Daniel Dean Callahan, 80, passed away on February 18, 2023, in Sacramento, California.
He was born June 11th, 1942, in Peru, Indiana, to Robert J Callahan and Delorys Evelyn Knepp.
Daniel married Judy Brandon November 24, 1962, in Wanamaker, Indiana and had two sons Chris and Craig Callahan. He then married Lucy Newell in Colorado about 1967 and had two sons Robert and Roger. He then married Roberta Waugh, August 4, 1979, in Pennsylvania. His final marriage was to Linda Metro, October 12, 2008 in Reno, Nevada.
Daniel was a member of the US Air Force. He also was a truck driver (Navajo, ABF & others) for most of his life and well as a builder. In his later years he found a love for computers. He went back to school to become a programmer.
Daniel loved bowling, pinochle, racing and genealogy. He would go to RootsTech every couple of years to learn about the latest “toys” to help with the genealogy. He loved researching family in both Salt Lake City, Utah and Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He is survived by his wife Linda Callahan (Metro), brothers George Callahan (Sheri) and Frank Callahan, ex-wife Judy Brandon and his children, Chris Callahan (Renee), Craig Callahan (Michele), Angela Golden, Robert Callahan, Roger Callahan and nephew Michael Callahan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Irene Lucy Newell and Julie Leigh and brother Larry J Callahan.
Memorial contribution in his name made be made to American Cancer Society.
A joint memorial service will take place 10 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46221, with burial to follow in Corinth Brethren Cemetery in Twelve Mile, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2023, at the same location.
