Damael Clayton Hale was born on September 14, 1976 in Indianapolis, Indiana to his parents Dawn Hale and the late Daryl Murray.  He was the only child to his mother Dawn, and through his father, were two sisters, which he loved dearly, Daela and Daryn Murray.  He was an Indianapolis native, however, his mother’s job moved the two of them to Texas and later to Atlanta, Georgia where he lived out his adolescent and adult years.  To keep that connection with family, his mother would send him to spend time in the summer, staying with his grandparents and cousins, which he did this for many years.  As a child, he was very inquisitive, you would find him taking apart electronics and investigating how things were made.  He had a passion for computers, technology, photography and gaming. This passion allowed him to travel to Japan, attend various competitions and conferences, resulting in him meeting and having a diverse group of friends across the globe.  He worked in the Informational Technology field for years, employed at Leidos where he worked as an IT Analyst Level II.

Damael was engaged to the beautiful Lana Rhoten, and together they were raising their family in Denver, Colorado.  He was a loving father who loved to cook and help his bonus children with their homework.  He bonus children include Faith, Kato, Govanni, Xaiver, Amesheia and Armond.  In addition, to his “potatoes” Kali and Addison, which are two of his seven grandbabies.  He would teach the young men in the family the importance of taking care of the women in their lives, for example, opening doors, how to take care of themselves, and those around them.  He loved to go camping, hiking, traveling and fishing. He really liked to sit on his porch late at night and watch movies regardless of the temperature.

Damael was a caring and dependable man that expressed his love to family and friends, providing time, a listening ear and support to all that needed him. He would make surprise visits where he would check in on his father, and when he was not always physically able to be with him during his illness, he would request family to pray for him and keep everyone updated on his status.

If you knew Damael personally, then you knew he had the most recognizable, infectious laugh and smile. He had a heart of gold and was a huge giver. Damael did not meet strangers without leaving a lasting and positive impression on them.  He once helped a friend build a playhouse for his children, brought a tent for a homeless person whose tent had caught fire.  He was a man that was selfless without needing acknowledgement.

Damael was preceded in death by his father, Darryl Murray, grandmothers – Armeeda Reed and Lena Murray Wooden, uncle Jeffery Murray and great-aunt Alberta Taylor.  He leaves behind to forever uphold his memory, his mother, Dawn Hale, fiancé Lana Rhoten, their six children, Faith Hitson, Kato Histon, Giovanni Histon, Xavier Lamb, Amesheia Wilbourn and Armond Wilbourn, Jr., and seven grandchildren.  His sisters, Daela Murray, Daryn Murray, grandfather William Reed and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and devoted friends.  Please keep them all in your continued thoughts and prayers!
