Dale E. Schenkel, Jr., 75, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on June 14, 2026. He was born on July 19, 1950, in Huntington, Indiana, to the late Dale and Patricia Schenkel.
Dale’s life was centered around his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them, whether in Destin, Florida, or Arizona. His laughter, warmth, and generosity left a mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Dale was a fan of all things Indiana sports, especially IU and the Colts. Beyond sports, he was a man who never met a stranger, always ready to lend an ear and offer a helping hand. He was known for his loving nature and kind spirit.
Dale’s deep devotion to his Catholic faith guided him throughout his life. He was a loyal member of his church community, and prayed daily.
Though he is deeply missed, the spirit of Dale’s loving and giving heart remains a guiding light to all who loved him.
Dale is survived by his loving spouse, Carolyn; children, Chris (Lauren Schindler) Schenkel, Ashley (Jake Brier) Schenkel, Chad (Katie) Schenkel, and Jason (Alexsus) Schenkel; grandchildren, Harper, Brody, Aiden, Audrey, Ellie, Archie, and Rory; and siblings, Bob (Lea) Schenkel, Linda Schenkel, David (Laura) Schenkel, Doug (Marilyn) Schenkel, and Cathy Schenkel.
Dale was preceded in passing by his parents.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday, June 22, from 1pm to 3pm, with a Memorial Service at 3pm, at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Good Shepherd Chapel), 9700 Allisonville Road.
The family invites guests to wear their IU or Colts gear or colors, in honor of Dale.
