D. Helen Shockley

April 9, 1933 — April 22, 2012

D. Helen Shockley Age 79 of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012. She was a homemaker, rose gardener, cake decorator and art glass collector and lived as spirited and lively as the cascade of auburn red hair she was well known for. When not running a busy household and caring for her children and grandchildren, she spent much of her time as an active and dedicated member of Garfield Christian Church helping others members, their families and those of the community. A woman of constant faith and style, Helen was always ready with a big smile, a warm hug and loving words of wisdom for the many who knew and loved her. To say she will be missed is an understatement. Daughter of Vernon and Viola Duffer who preceded her in death. Survived by her husband Bedford "Jay" Shockley, daughter Diane Robinson, son Jay Shockley, sister Dorothy Miller and brother Clifford Duffer, granddaughters Jennifer Avery, Brandy Shockley and great granddaughters Aila, Addison and ShyAnn. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Flanner and Bu chanan - Washington Park East , 10722 E. Washington Street from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 1 pm from the funeral center. Burial will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
