Cindy Anderson-Clark, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2024 while visiting family in Ohio. Cindy was born on January 4, 1950 in Indianapolis, IN to Harley and Dorothy Anderson. She has 3 sisters- Randy Jill (Indianapolis), Christy Jan Baillie “CJ” (Florida), and Mary Ann McKeown (Florida). Cindy graduated from North Central High School in 1968. After graduating, she travelled for a year with Up With People-Cast B. She was a lifelong member of the UWP International Alumni Association, travelling with a special group of UWP friends who stayed in contact for over 50 years, travelling across the U.S., France, England, Scotland, Ireland, Africa, and Nova Scotia.
Cindy earned an Education degree from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. After college, she moved with friends from Ball State to Colorado where two of her sisters were living at the time. Cindy worked for a number of years for the State of Colorado as a Social Security Disability Determination Examiner. She met her husband, Mark Clark, in Colorado and eventually they moved to Austin, TX to be near Mark’s parents. In Texas Cindy continued her work as a Social Security Disability Determination Examiner. After her husband passed away in 1999, Cindy moved back to Indianapolis to her parents’ home which she shared with her sister Randy Jill for 24 years.
Cindy was a devoted member of St. Christopher’s Church in Carmel, IN for over two decades where she ministered in some way on most Sundays preparing the sanctuary for worship as part of the Altar Guild, serving as an usher, assisting in the kitchen at fellowship gatherings, or tending to the crops garden. As a member of the Daughters of the King, she was committed to prayer, service, and being a witness to God’s love in the world. Cindy was known for her giving and humble heart, content to continually serve behind-the-scenes. Cindy and her sister Randy shared a love for college basketball, closely following Indiana teams including IU, Purdue, and Butler. Cindy enjoyed keeping track of the stats of her favorite teams and took great delight in March Madness each year. Another passion of Cindy’s was music and she loved attending concerts.
Cindy is survived by her three sisters--Randy Jill, CJ (Norm Baillie), and MaryAnn (Dawson McKeown), her husband’s brother, Max Clark (Elizabeth and their 2 children, Carrie and Max Jr.), two nephews (Dawson McKeown Jr, and Michael Baillie), three nieces ( Samantha McKeown, Alyssa McKeown, Lindsey McKeown), and two great nephews (Henry McKeown, Van Whitlow), and a host of college, church, and UWP friends.
A Celebration of Life will be on March 1, 2025 at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 1402 West Main Street, Carmel, IN 46032 at 11:00 am with a Reception to follow.
