Crystal Merrill Irick

Crystal Lee Stowers Merrill Irick of Zionsville, IN died December 24, 2011. She was born in Clinton County, IN to the late Milford and Ethel (Shapley) Stowers on December 27, 1921. Crystal attended Sugar Creek School there. She married Kenneth C. Merrill in 1937 and they farmed in Boone County as well as operating a livestock trucking business until his passing in 1971. Crystal was employed in retail sales at the W. T. Grant Department Store in New Augusta and at the Glendale Store of L. S. Ayres, where she sold the Borghese line of cosmetics. She was also a sales associate at the North Michigan Road K-Mart in Indianapolis. Crystal proudly received her GED at age 65. She liked to draw and paint art, and was an accomplished cook, who excelled at pie-making. She was a member of Sheridan Christian Church where she sang alto in the choir, and attended Zionsville United Methodist Church since moving to Zionsville in 1991. Crystal is survived by her daughter Christine Kay and son-in-law, Kenneth Price; grandchildren Matthew Merrill Price and his wife Beth Caltrider Price, Michael Curtis Price and his wife Jennifer Babitz Price, and Angela Christine Price Baker and her husband Jason Baker; and great-grandchildren Mitchell, Thomas, Samuel, Benjamin, Luke, Zachary, Jordan Christine, Drew, and Aaron all residing in Zionsville. She is also survived by her sister Rosanna Dunn of Noblesville, her brother Julian L. Stowers and his wife Patsy of Fishers, and her sister-in-law Marilyn Merrill Rowland of Sheridan. She was also blessed with many beloved nieces and nephews. Crystal was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth C. Merrill and her sister Doris Stowers Carney. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 12 noon at Zionsville United Methodist Church. Calling will be there from 10 a. m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Sheridan, IN.
