Corydon David Abbett, 93, Indianapolis, passed away October 19, 2011. He was born in Indianapolis on April 27, 1918, the son of Walter C. and Nellie M. Abbett. Corydon was a 1936 graduate of Tech High School. He served in the US Army in WWII, and witnessed the signing of the Peace Treaty with Japan. Corydon was a Master Cut-out Engraver with Herff Jones for 47 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association for many years. Corydon was preceded in death by his brother, Walter C. Abbett. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Nellie Marie Abbett, Indianapolis; his daughter, Janice Greer, Punta Gorda, FL; his sons, C. David Abbett, Oakridge, NC, and John Douglas Abbett, Clearwater Beach, FL; his sister, Anita Ball, Pioneer, CA; his grandchildren, Gregory Lee Greer, Stephen Douglas Greer, Christina Abbett, Stephanie Courtney, Bryan Abbett, and Douglas Abbett; his 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren, and one expected in May 2012. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 25 at 2 PM at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center- Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road. Memorial gifts may be given to the American Heart Association.
