Cornell Douglas Pasley, Jr. July 16, 1942 – September 7, 2026
Cornell “Sonny” Douglas Wendell Pasley, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and cherished memories. Born on July 16, 1942, in Fulton, Missouri, Sonny lived a life marked by faith, dedication, hard work, and service to others.
Sonny was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Odessa” Pasley; his parents, Cornell Douglas Wendell Pasley, Sr. and Mamie Louise (Black) Pasley; his brother, Bruce Pasley; and his sisters, Kathy (Pasley) Adams and Geraldine Kelley (Sylvester).
A proud graduate of Fulton High School, Class of 1960, Sonny dedicated 42 years of service to the Ford Motor Company. Through his strong work ethic and commitment, he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
A gifted athlete, Sonny played semi-professional football for the Columbia Falcons. He also had a passion for softball and distinguished himself as an outstanding player. His contributions to the sport were recognized with his induction into the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Hall of Fame, a testament to his talent, leadership, and love of the game.
Faith was at the center of Sonny’s life and the life he shared with his beloved wife, Elizabeth, whom he affectionately called “Odessa.” Together, they worshiped at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. During his more than 50 years as a devoted member, Sonny served in many capacities, including on the Trustee Board and in the Brotherhood Ministry. He and Odessa loved playing Bid Whist, listening to live music, traveling, and attending games together. His love for God, devotion to his family, and heart for serving others touched everyone who knew him.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his son, Corey Pasley; his daughter, Connie (Pasley) Taylor; his granddaughter, Adrienne Taylor; his brother, Victor Pasley (Pamela); his sister, Carolyn Pasley; his childhood sweetheart, Frances Ward; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Sonny’s life was a blessing to all who knew him. His legacy of faith, family devotion, community service, and friendship will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. Though he will be greatly missed, cherished memories of Sonny will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones.
