Cora (Templin) Turley

October 13, 1925 — May 25, 2014

Cora E. (Templin) Turley 88, of Zionsville passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 25, 2014. Cora was born on October 13, 1925 in Eagle Village to the late Frank and Dorothy Templin of Zionsville. On February 26, 1947 she married the late Meredith L. Turley in Zionsville. She was a 1943 graduate of Eagle Township High School. She was a member of Zionsville United Methodist Church, an auxiliary member of Psi Iota Xi sorority, a member of the Zionsville Woman's Club and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. She worked at Pitman-Moore, Harold's Haberdashery and spent her life caring for her family as she was a loving and dedicated mother to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, going to lunch with 'The Lunch Bunch' and volunteering for Hug-A-Pillow. She was extremely kind hearted, thoughtful, loving and charitable with her time and resources. Cora was very welcoming and had a friendly smile for everyone she met. She had a unique sense of humor and was quite a character. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sports and activities. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by two sons Rick (Karen) Turley of Whitestown, IN and grandchildren Matthew of Zionsville, IN and Lori of Rockford, IL and Rod Turley (Maranda) of Prescott Valley, AZ. She is also survived by two daughters Tamra Turley (family friend Anita Gagnon) of Zionsville, IN and Kim (John) Minnich and grandchildren Margo and Cooper both of Zionsville, IN. She is also survived by her sister Jean Engledow of West Palm Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews. Cora was also preceded in death by her sister Doris Bennett of West Palm Beach, FL. Her family would like to send a special thank you to many individuals for their care, concern and support during the last several years. Visitation will be Friday May 30th from 4-8 pm at Zionsville United Methodist Church. The service will be held at the church on Saturday, May 31st at 10:00 am with visitation one hour prior with Reverend Linda Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Cora's honor may be made to Zionsville United Methodist Church or Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the church.
