Constance Marie Brye

Constance Marie Brye, known to all who loved her as Connie, passed away on September 25, 2026, of natural causes in her hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. She was 85 years old. Born on March 27, 1941, in Indianapolis to Richard and Mercedes Griffin, Connie grew into a woman of remarkable energy and determination.

She attended Butler University and began her career with Indiana Bell before going on to run her own printing press business, all while raising her two children. Balancing work and family came naturally to her, a reflection of the hard-working, family-oriented spirit that defined her whole life.

Connie married the love of her life, Frank Brye, and together they shared forty-eight wonderful years. She poured that same devotion into her community. She served as President of the Zionsville Community School Board, spent time as both President and Vice President of the Robin Run Residents Council, and lobbied against pollution in Boone County. Whether it was through her card club, the Crafty Ladies, or her work for environmental accountability, Connie showed up for the people and places she cared about.

Those who knew her remember her patience, her generosity, and her wonderful sense of humor. She was an avid collector, treasuring Beanie Babies, decks of cards, salt and pepper shakers, Emmett Keily clowns, and $2 bills. She loved to craft, play cards, and try her luck at the slot machines. Above all, she loved her family.

Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Brye; her parents, Richard and Mercedes Griffin; her sister, Beverly Nichols; her brother-in-law, Ronald Nichols; son-in-law, Gary Cooper; and her niece, Amy Nichols.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie Cooper; her son, Richard Brye; and daughter-in-law, Nicole Brye; her grandchildren: Karen, Nicole, and Zackary Cooper, and Samuel Brye; her great-grandsons, Jace and Kaden Hopper; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Flanner and Buchanan - Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229. The service will begin at 2:30 p.m., followed by entombment at Washington Park East Cemetery.

Connie was loved by many and will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.
