Obituary

Connie Joan Menke, 79, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on June 21, 2026. She was born on October 8, 1946, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to parents, Gerhard “Jerry” Driewer and Elsie (Deppe) Driewer.

She received a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Nebraska. Connie worked as a social worker in Terre Haute while also raising her two sons. Upon moving to the Indianapolis area, she consulted with nursing care facilities as well as her most satisfying work with Big Brothers of Greater Indianapolis, also getting the whole family involved to support Big Brothers mission. She was very active in her community as a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, her personal book club and member of the Indianapolis Symphony Association. She enjoyed cooking, boating (especially at her place on Lake Monroe), reading, golfing, and spending time with her family.

Connie is survived by her sons, Timothy Menke (Christy) and John Menke; grandchildren, Alexis Shuler, Alivia Menke, Aidan Menke, Jaelyn Menke, Samuel Menke, Logan Menke, and Daniel Menke.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Richard H. Menke and her parents. 

Visitation for Connie will be from 11am-1pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church – 8115 Oaklandon Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46236, with a funeral service immediately following at 1pm. Burial will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
