Colleen is preceded in death by parents John and Dorothy Smyth and brother Anthony. Colleen is survived by her son Jack Diedrich, brothers Peter (Barbara) and Michael (Marilyn) and sisters Kathleen (Timothy), Kristine Smyth and Molly Smyth.
Colleen has been working in the non-profit sector her entire career, working at Art institutes, Zoos and Museums. Colleen started working at the Indiana State Museum on March 18, 2002. As Manager of Education, Director of Performing Arts and Education, and then Associate Vice President of Education and Outreach, she played a fundamental role in shaping the educational philosophy and programs so vital to the museums mission. Last fall, she became Vice President of Individual Giving and Membership in the development department.
Colleen was a woman of deep faith who loved her son, family, friends and life. She will be missed by all she touched.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park North 2706 Kessler Blvd West Drive Indianapolis, IN 46228. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church 4600 N. Illinois St Indianapolis, IN 46208.
