Clyde Harvey Jester, Jr., a man whose life was a vibrant tapestry of devotion, kindness, and creativity, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, in Mooresville, Indiana. Born on October 15, 1941, in Muncie, Indiana, Clyde’s journey was one marked by a profound commitment to service, family, faith, and the simple joys that colored his world.
Clyde’s professional life was distinguished by his work as an Investigator for the Federal Wage and Hour Division and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission within the federal government. His dedication to fairness and justice in the workplace mirrored the grace and integrity that defined his character.
Beyond his career, Clyde’s creative soul found expression in the delicate art of floral design. Serving as a designer for a flower shop in Mooresville, Indiana, he brought beauty and life to countless arrangements with his gentle touch and artistic vision. His passion extended into the spirited world of chili cooking, where as a member of the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI), he earned first place in a chili cook-off, a testament to his warmth and zest for community and camaraderie.
Clyde was a devoted husband to Marilyn, a loving father to Darin and Chad and a proud father-in-law to Tonya. His legacy blooms through his grandchildren Eden Jester, Kaleb Jester, Derek Holman, and Megan Bardot, and through the radiant presence of his great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Julianna, Cordelia and Isaac. Their love carried forward the generous spirit that Clyde so freely gave to all who knew him.
His life was deeply rooted in faith and service. A longtime and devoted member of Valley Mills Christian Church in Indianapolis, Clyde served faithfully as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and contributor to the church’s drama department. His spiritual journey was also shaped by earlier years at Fair Lawn Church of Christ in Muncie, Indiana, where his commitment to community and worship first took hold.
Clyde’s personality shone through as loving, kind, generous, spiritual, and talented—a man who created not only beautiful floral designs and award-winning dishes but also a beautiful life filled with meaningful relationships and steadfast faith.
He now joins in eternal rest those who preceded him: his father Charles Harvey Jester, Sr., his mother Irene Dorothy Heaton, his sons Darin (Tonya) Jester and Chad (Jennifer) Jester, and his two sisters. Their memories are etched into the fabric of his heart and the lives he touched.
To honor his life, visitation will be held on April 11, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Mills Christian Church, 5555 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46221. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with burial at West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, Indiana.
In remembering Clyde, one recalls a man who lived fully and loved deeply—a man whose legacy is a garden of kindness, faith, and creativity that will forever blossom in the hearts of his family, friends, and all fortunate enough to know him.
Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township is honored to be entrusted with the funeral arrangements for the Jester family.
