(Clifford) Brent Badgley, Indianapolis, IN, passed away Saturday August 1st, 2026. He was born August 6th, 1954, to Clifford (Kit) Badgley and Mary Ruth (Waldridge) Badgley.
The family moved often in his early years and eventually settled in central Indiana. Brent graduated from Southport high school in Indianapolis. He was a drummer at heart and enjoyed being in the high school band and a cover band with his musician friends. He graduated from IU with a business degree.
In May of 1992 he married the love of his life, Diane Marie Ehmke. They built a life they loved, road tripping, making and buying art, and spending time with their friends and families. Brent and Diane showered their niece and nephew with love their entire lives, sharing their interests and hobbies, and always encouraging them to be themselves and follow their passions.
They retired early to focus on Diane's health and bought a building they referred to as "Just Off the Path" where they focused on recovery and things they loved, like knitting, painting, and drawing for Diane and drums, carpentry and computer projects for Brent. He was a rock for Diane and her family, and he was a fighter in his own battle with CLL. (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia).
Though his cancer journey was long and winding, he made the most of the times he was in remission. Just last fall, he got back on his motorcycle and completed his cross-country motorcycle tour by driving to the pacific northwest with his longtime friend Tim. One-thousand-piece puzzles were his favorite pastime with family. He was known by all for his great sense of humor, his curiosity, his open mindedness, and above all, his love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; Clifford (Kit) Badgley and Mary Ruth Waldridge Badgley, as well as his wife Diane (Ehmke) Badgley.
He is survived by his sister Marna Sue (Badgley) Brisley and her husband Jeff Brisley. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, both whom he adored, Alaina (Thompson) Ferree and her husband Mark and Andrew Thompson.
In Lieu of flowers memorial donations in Brent's honor may be made to the Indianapolis Public Library.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 1pm at Flanner Buchanan - Carmel (325 E. Carmel Dr. Carmel, IN 46032). A Celebration of life gathering will be held post services from 1:30pm-3:30pm.
