Cleo Bloomer, of Indianapolis, IN, passed on April 8, 2026 at the age of 86.

Cleo was born on October 7, 1939 in Dryden, VA. He was born to the late Carrol and Gertrude Bloomer. He was united in marriage to Sandra Kay on April 6, 1963, and they shared a loving marriage for 56 years until her passing in 2019.

Cleo was known for his kindness, for he never met and stranger; also, his jovial nature, where he always found laughter in everything including telling people that if they had hemorrhoids, go to Mooresville, and if they had back trouble, go to St. Louis. This was a long-running joke he kept going from his work, and he kept this joke alive until the end. We promised him that we would keep it circulating for him. Throughout his life, he enjoyed anything outdoors: turkey hunting, camping, woodworking, beekeeping, tree work, and always tinkering with something, but simply sitting in a chair under the shade of a tree brought him joy, happiness, and peace.

Cleo worked for Navistar, Inc. for 30 years and the Indianapolis meter department for 10 years. He believed in working hard in his younger years so that he could enjoy his retirement, which he did for 25 years.

He is survived by two children and their spouses, Scott and Lori Bloomer and Treva and Brian Burke, 5 grandchildren, Kaylee, Emilee, Ariana, Amanda, and Jamie, 7 great grandchildren, Mosley, Nathan, Zeke, Jazelle, Lazarus, Maverick, and Charlotte, several nieces and nephews, and siblings, for he was 1 of 13 children.

A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery on April 13, 2026 at 11 a.m. for immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Indiana Parks Alliance.
