Claude Warrick Smith, “Smitty”,89, Speedway, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Born in Veedersburg, Indiana,on March 12, 1927 to Homer and Isa (Warrick) Smith, he was raised atthe Indiana Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's Home and graduated fromMorton Memorial High School in Knightstown. He was a U.S Navy veteran ofWW II and Korea, and retired from Indiana Bell. He was a member ofZion Evangelical United Church of Christ and a lifelong Cubs fan. Smittyis survived by his wife Melvina; sisters Dody Harris and Ann Scheurich;children Craig Smith (Aniko), David Smith, and Amy Smith (Jeff Moody);grandchildren Ryan, Katie, Meghan and Hunter Smith; great grandchild Gabriel;and beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Doug Smith.Visitation will be Thursday, July 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, July 8 from 10to 11:30 a.m., followed by a service at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Flanner andBuchanan-Speedway, 2950 N.
