Clarice Virginia (Dow) Brown, age 90, died July 16, 2014. Born in Sunnyside, WA, on July 9, 1924, she was the youngest of 9 children. Clarice graduated from Sunnyside High School and Moody Bible Institute, and she received her R.N. from St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Yakima, WA. Clarice married Alastair Walfred Brown, June 3, 1952. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Harold Dow, Dilla Mae (Preble), and 8 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and many dearly loved relatives. Sons: David Michael (Susan) of Midland, MI; Douglas Eugene of Chicago, IL; and Mark Allen (Trisha) of Indianapolis. She was adored and admired by her 6 grandchildren: Benjamin, Meredith, Micah, Gavin, Addison, Caleb. She made friends wherever she went, and everyone loved her.
Clarice played a vital role in Alastair's 60 years of Christian ministry, serving seventeen churches by his side. She was a gifted singer, choir director, and accompanist; and she organized many children's musicals. Clarice was known for her cheerful smile and sunny disposition. She paid special attention to encouraging the giftedness of others. If Clarice requested that you do something, saying "no" was next to impossible. Her appreciation of God's beautiful creation increased even as her vision decreased. Her strong faith and Christian testimony were an inspiration to many--she "walked the talk".
Services will be Saturday July 19th at 4:00pm with calling from 3:00pm at Hoosier Village Chapel, 9875 Cherryleaf Dr.
