Clara Jo Ann Barnes

Clara Jo Ann (Teague) Barnes, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home in Lafayette on February 8, 2026. She was born February 4, 1934, in Rushville, Indiana, to the late Oliver F. and Marjorie L. (Buckley) Teague.

A registered nurse since 1955, Jo Ann served with compassion, empathy, and dedication until her retirement in 1995. Alongside her husband, the late Rev. Edward G. Barnes, she was actively involved in church ministry and service, supporting his calling and contributing her own gifts to the community.

While she cherished the comfort of home, Jo Ann found joy in simple, meaningful pleasures such as camping, sewing, crocheting, and gardening. Anytime was a good time for buttered popcorn or a scoop of ice cream.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Walter A. Teague and Donald F. Teague.

Jo Ann is survived by her children: David L. (Susan) Barnes of Danville, IL; Deborah L. (Doug Heaton) Barnes of Tallula, IL; Dianna S. Richardson of Maroa, IL; Mark A. (Sue) Barnes of Danville, IL; Mary Ann (John) Satterfield of Lafayette, IN; Christina J. (Eric) Hancock of Rossville, IN; and Bradley E. (Jenna Greene) Barnes of Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by her brother, Warren E. (Stella) Teague of Carmel, IN; 18 grandchildren; and 4 great‑grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 13, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan -Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd. West Drive, Indianapolis. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
