Chris Young (née Christopher Anton Yianoplis) was born on August25, 1921, blessed with an infectious smile and an affable personality whichwould serve him well for nearly 95 years. As a young man, Chris liked to cut a rug, winning Jitter Bug dancecompetitions with his older sister Vicky. While a student at Lincoln High School in Milwaukee, he finished 3rdin the state of Wisconsin in cross-country. After enlisting in the Army Air Corp during World War II, an aptitudetest revealed his keen engineering mind and changed the trajectory of hisfuture. In 1952, with his wife Claire’sencouragement, Chris sold his candy store, The Plaza Sweet Shop. A family man with 2 children and the GI Bill,he worked nights tending bar and earned a degree from The Marquette UniversitySchool of Engineering of Milwaukee in only three years. After graduation he worked the remainder ofhis career with AO Smith as a Research Engineer. Among his achievements he was most proud of apatent for the creation of an analog computer for elevators in 1976. He also engineered features of theomnipresent Harvestor grain elevators dotting the Midwest farm country anddelighted in pointing out those structures to his grandchildren. After retiring to Brownsburg Chris kept busywith golf among family and friends at the Brownsburg Golf Club and was electedto head his Home Owners Association in his 70’s.

Chris was preceded in death by his wife Claire ElioplosYoung who he married on April 17, 1947 in Milwaukee, at the St Constantine andHelen Church. He is survived by sisters Betty Kalyvas (Brownsburg, IN) andVicky Shinners (Thiensville, WI) and by his daughter Nancy Young Laatsch (Neal)(Wadsworth, Illinois) and son Anthony P. Young (Hawley Linke) (Columbus, Ohio)and 5 grandchildren: Nicholas Andrew Laatsch (Elisabeth), Katherine LaatschFink (Aaron Fink) Robert Stephen Martin, Christen Linke Young, and Dylan HowardYoung; and 4 great-grandchildren Owen, Paige, and Nathan Laatsch and CharlotteFink. He and Claire are greatly lovedwill be missed by all.
