Beech Grove, Indiana

Christopher John “CJ” Holtrey, passed away unexpectedly on September 26, 2021.  CJ was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 9, 1992 to parents, Earnie Alan and Dawn Therese (Dugan) Holtrey.  He was a 2011 graduate of Hamilton Southeastern High School and went on to attend the University of Southern Indiana.  During his career, CJ worked as a Political Coordinator on the Holcomb-Crouch campaign as well as a Sales Representative in the automotive industry. He was baptized at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church and was a member of Christ the Savior Lutheran Church at the time of his passing.

CJ was a very caring person who had a love and compassion for others. He found comfort and purpose in being a caregiver to those in need. He most enjoyed spending time with his beloved daughter, Lullah Mae, whose birth sent him over the moon with happiness. He loved family, friends, politics, comedy, scary movies, traveling, cooking and trying new restaurants. He was smart, witty, and always had a joke. He loved to laugh, learn and have fun. His love for travel took him internationally to China and Italy and across most all of the 50 states.

He also enjoyed golfing and was a huge sports fan and supporter of the Las Vegas Raiders, LA Dodgers, Los Angeles Lakers and The Ohio State Buckeyes. CJ enjoyed a good bourbon and was dubbed an “Old-Fashioned” connoisseur.

CJ will be lovingly missed by his parents, Earnie and Dawn Holtrey; sisters, Caroline “Rose” Holtrey (fiancé, Harrison David Adams) and Camille “Cami” Alan Holtrey; daughter, Louisiana “Lullah” Mae Holtrey; maternal grandparents, Steve and Patricia Dagley and John C. “Jack” Dugan, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Keith and Nancy Holtrey; paternal great-grandfather, Earnest Tinkey; aunts, uncles and cousins: John Dugan, Jr., Megan and Charlie Dugan; Erin Sheidan, Rob, Ben and Ryan Coomer; Douglas, Sarah, Ryan and Emma Dagley; Sarah, Riley, Kaden and Travis Snavley; aunt-in-love, Dede Hutmacher; his loyal and faithful canine companion, Axel; and many other loving extended family members and beloved friends.
