Christine Delaney

January 10, 1950 — April 12, 2012

Christine Marie Delaney Carmel, Indiana, passed away on April 12 after a courageous three year battle with ovarian cancer. Chris was born on January 10, 1950 in Evanston, Illinois to Joseph and Ruth Papierski and graduated from Evanston High School. Her love of art and exceptional artistic talent resulted in her being accepted to the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Chris moved to Indianapolis in 1980 and had a long successful career in printing sales. She was VP of Sales for Sport Graphics and the Printing Company and most recently worked for RR Donnelly Printing as their Indiana Representative. Her true passion was for her artwork where she excelled as a painter. Extremely creative in all mediums, she loved to paint with oils, but was also proficient with water colors and photography. Her favorite subjects were flowers, especially roses. She won many awards for her art, including a blue ribbon for the grand prize painting at the 2010 Indiana State fair. She excelled in all activities she attempted. She competed in thoroughbred horse competition in the Hunter and Jumper divisions for 15 years. She was an avid bike rider and rode in the Hilly Hundred eight times. She sailed in E Scow sailboat racing competitions for several years, raised champion Afghan Hounds, and most recently was very competitive in team tennis. Chris' creativity and love for art and design was displayed in all areas of her life. Creating artwork was her passion. Each project she tackled, whether it was a new canvas or decorating a room, was completed with flair and her unique creativity. Her paintings will be a reminder to all, of her spirit and courage. Chris is survived by her husband Steve Delaney, son Josh Malancuk (Susan), grandson Joseph Malancuk, stepdaughters Brienne and Maren Delaney, brother, Ed Papierski (Liz), sister, Rita Kreuser (Mike), and sister, Joanna Brazda. The wake will be held at Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple 1305 E. Broad Ripple Ave. Indianapolis, IN Tuesday, April 17 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church (where Chris was a member), 10655 Haverstick Road, Carmel, Indiana.
