Choon Ok Sung

Choon Ok Sung, 86, Fishers, passed away April 3, 2022. She was born in Jumunjin, South Korea. She came to the United States in 1986 and worked three jobs to support her children. She worked at Marion College and Hyatt Regency for over ten years, being awarded “Employee of the Year” many times. Choon was a businesswoman, being the owner and founder Saraga International Grocery stores. She was a happy and very independent person and everyone knew her as “Mom.” She had a very sweet heart and was active in New Hope Korean Baptist Church, serving as a Deaconess.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Chang Sub Sung, sister, Choon Ja Lee and daughter, Mikyoung Sung.
Survivors include her children, Bo ok Sung, Bong Jae Sung, Hae Nam Sung, John Sung, and Hae Young Sung, and 21 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Korean Baptist Church, 2240 E 106th St, Carmel, IN 46032.
Visitation will be held Tuesday April 5th from 4-8pm at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd. Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held there Wednesday at 10am with visitation beginning at 9am.
