Charlotte J. Richtmyer, 90, of Carmel, IN, formerly of St. Marys, OH, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022. She was born on May 11, 1932 in Dayton, OH, to the late Eugene and Leona Ludy. She was a graduate of Western Hills High School, Cincinnati.
Charlotte was the widow of Howard L. Bauer after 32 years of marriage and a joyful life in Cincinnati, Ohio. There, she loved cooking, gardening, picnicking, boating, and cheering on the Reds! She devoted herself to her grandsons and joined them in sledding, riding roller coasters at Kings Island, and going down water slides! She found joy in singing in the church choir, card club evenings, being a member of the Miamitown Historical Society, and participating in bicycle rallies.
In 1990, Charlotte married Charles Richtmyer, and for 29 years, experienced life in the small town of St. Marys, Ohio. She embraced the role as a minister’s wife, joined The Magic Circle reading program in the public schools, and volunteered at the election poles. She was surrounded by many helpful and caring neighbors when Charles passed away.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Diane (husband, Duane) Gilchrist; grandsons, Andrew (wife, Leah), Daniel (wife, Christine), Jonathan and James Gilchrist; great grandsons, William and Wyatt Gilchrist, Benjamin and Ryan Gilchrist; sister, Linda Buescher, and fourteen nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Please visit flannerbuchanan.com to sign the online guest register. Services will be held on Saturday, August 27 at The Arlington Memorial Gardens, Mt. Healthy in Cincinnati. Visitation begins at 11:00 at the chapel, with funeral following at noon.
