Charlotte Eckart

May 29, 1929 — September 24, 2016

Charlotte touched countless lives through her selfless service beside her husband in pastoral ministry for 64 years, as well as Sunday School teacher, women’s ministry leader, and as most knew her, church pianist. She played the piano at Warren Park Wesleyan weekly for 57 years. The last song she played was “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”, a fitting tribute of her life and faith.

Born in Terre Haute, Indiana on May 29th, 1929, Charlotte was born the seventh of seven children to the late Bertis Elba Long and
Lela Mae Maink Long. She survived her late husband of 64 years, S. Creston Eckart, who passed away on November 17th, 2012. She is survived by her brother Edward Long and sister, Edna Mae Fuson. She is also survived by her four sons Philip (Karen), Daniel (Laurie), Paul (Kelly), and Jeffrey (Arianna). Charlotte was blessed with 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She was both a devoted wife to her husband and mother to her sons and left them her memories, wisdom and music. Her quiet steady demeanor complemented Creston’s life and their ministry work together.

Charlotte was an accomplished musician and vocalist. She sang in many vocal groups throughout her life, and was the foundation of the music program at Warren Park Wesleyan Church for almost 60 years. She could play written music and also play “by ear”, playing many styles and types of musical arrangements. She continued to the end of her earthly life to learn new music and play not only at her church, but in her apartment complex as well. Generations were touched by her musicianship, and up until her final few weeks on this side of eternity new audiences were experiencing her musical gifts.

She lived and served with Creston at his side at Farmington Pilgrim Holiness Church in Farmington, MO, Antioch Pilgrim Holiness Church in Bass Lake, IN, and at Warren Park Wesleyan Church in Indianapolis, IN. Their last assignment together was at Warren Park lasting 34 years in full time service. She continued to serve beside the current Senior Pastor, her son, Reverend Daniel Eckart at Warren Park, right up until the time of her death. She remained active in Kingdom work to the very end.

Memorial gifts will be used for missions and are to be given to:
