Charles T. 'Chuck' Covy

Charles "Chuck" Thomas Covy 82, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012. He was born September 30, 1930 to Louis Covy and Fannie Nelis Covy. He was preceded in death by his brother Louis Covy and his sister Louisa Covy. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Norma Jeanne Lich Covy of Franklin, Indiana; stepsons, Donald D. Peek, Jr., Kevin D. Peek and Timothy M. Peek. He will be missed by twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Chuck was a graduate of Manual High School and Butler University with a Bachelor of Science in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and part of his duties included transporting celebrities to and from USO performances, including Bob Hope and Marilyn Monroe. He worked for American Fletcher National Bank for 16 years and then went to work for HUD, Housing and Urban Development in 1970, later retiring on January 3, 1993. He was a member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church. One of his favorite pastimes was playing the trumpet in a band called "The Pastels" for over 30 years. The band played music from the big band days. He traveled with his wife extensively over the United States and Europe. He also enjoyed working in the yard and having conversations about WWII. Friends may call from 4-9 pm on Thursday December 27, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Friends may call from 10-12 pm, Friday, December 28, 2012. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Friday, Flanner and Buchanan. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
