Charles Robert Metzler

On Sunday, February 24, 2019, Chuck Metzler succumbed to cancer at the age of 70.

One of Chuck’s passions was for nature and would be found puttering in his garden at every opportunity. He loved his time spent in seed planting and got great satisfaction from nurturing life. Chuck could be counted on to identify the birds at feeders and the variety of frogs in his pond. An avid collector…because you just never know when you might need that item…he took great pleasure in finding a use for anything that could be recycled. At the same time, Chuck felt enriched by traveling the world. He had a genuine interest in other people and cultures, and made a point to explore as many experiences as possible. His was a life lived to the fullest. Chuck was known for his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father, August Max Metzler and his mother Blanchalice (BA) Metzler. Chuck is survived by his wife, Missy, and her three children. Chuck’s two grandchildren were the source of great enjoyment and joy to him. The third of nine Metzler children born to Max and BA, Chuck is also survived by his siblings Mickey, Russ, Jim, Gary, Margo, Larry, Harry and Paul. Each sibling has contributed a spouse, children and grandchildren to the Metzler family, which continues to grow in strength and numbers. All believe in the blessing of family. He leaves behind a plethora of cherished memories for friends and family.

A calling for family and friends will be held at Flanner Buchanan—Washington Park North, 270 Kessler Boulevard West Drive, Indianapolis, IN, on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 2-6 pm. A private burial will be held at a later date.
