Charles Robert -Bob- Jackson

Charles Robert “Bob” Jackson, 77, of Carmel, IN passed away September 7, 2016. Bob was born February 8, 1939 in Indianapolis to the late Harold P. and Martha M. Jackson. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol (Roesener) Jackson; daughters Jennifer L. (Tony) Ashley and Jodi A. (Jim) Weghorst, and five grandchildren, Nick (Amanda) and Justin (Holly) Ashley, great granddaughter Ellie, and Phil, Sarah, and Will Weghorst. Also surviving him is his sister, Virginia Carter, and sister-in-law, Doris J. (Mark) Southerland.

Bob graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School in 1956 and Wabash College in 1960. While at Wabash he was a member of the Sphinx Club and Sigma Chi Fraternity. Later, Bob became a Life Loyal Sig. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and a former member of the Indianapolis Athletic Club and the Columbia Club of Indianapolis.

His entire business career was in the life insurance industry serving as a consultant and Vice President at The State Life Insurance Company and for over 30 years as Senior Vice-President of Insurance Operations at Jefferson National Life Insurance Company. Bob was past President of the Indiana Home Office Underwriter’s Association in addition to being a member of several national and international underwriting associations and committees. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Bob and Carol were ardent followers of the Indianapolis Colts and were members along with their family in the Colts Walk of Fame. Bob loved traveling with his wife and they shared memories of trips to many foreign countries. He was so proud of the fact that he had been to all 50 states in our country. Most importantly, Bob was a wonderful husband, father, and grandpa. His life and interests always centered around his family and enjoying his wonderful daughters and very special grandchildren, and great granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, September 12 at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel with visitation prior to the service beginning at 1:00. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Riley Hospital for Children 705 Riley Hospital Dr. Indianapolis, IN 46202 with a designation for Cancer Research.
