Charles Robert Melton Sr.

Charles Robert Melton Sr., age 78 of Indianapolis passed away on Saturday evening, September 19, 2026.

Charles was born on April 11, 1948 in Burkesville, Kentucky a son of Robert C. and Anna Lee (Spears) Melton. 

He was one five children. He is preceded in death by three siblings: Willa Couch, Eddie Melton, and Freddy Melton. He is survived by his sister Anna (husband Joseph) Petty of Quincy, Indiana.

He married Deloris Okiec.  She preceded him in death on October 13, 1999.

He later married Sandra Melton. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2025.

He survived by two daughters: Tammy (husband David) Wilson of Indianapolis and Sherry Dugan of Anderson, Indiana.

Six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Many other family members and relatives survive as well as family members from Sandra's family. 

He is preceded in death by one son: Charles Robert Melton Jr who passed away on August 21, 2024. 

Throughout Charles' career, he worked as a painter for Will Wright Building Corporation as well as Sherwyn Williams.

In his free time he greatly enjoyed wood working and making things for family members and friends. 

In his younger year he loved to fish.  He also loved to watch wrestling and college basketball.  He always loved Kentucky and Indiana teams. 

All services will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026 at Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park Funeral Center, located at 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

The funeral service to celebrate Charles' life will follow at 2:00 PM.

Entombment will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.
