Charles Clayton Hamilton Sr. lived a remarkable 100 years—a life built on faith, family, service, hard work, and love.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Clayton proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. His service took him to the Philippines and Japan, where he faithfully served until his honorable discharge in 1947. The dedication and quiet strength he showed in the Army remained a part of who he was throughout his life.

After the war, Clayton met the love of his life, Billie Clevenger, in Missouri. Together, they shared more than 55 years of marriage and raised four children: Marcella, Debra, Patricia, and Charles Jr. Their family grew to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating a legacy of love that will continue for generations.

Clayton was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family. After returning to Indianapolis, he built a successful career in water-well drilling and eventually founded C.C. Hamilton Well Drilling. He was known for his honesty, determination, and doing things the right way.

He also had a lifelong passion for classic automobiles. From racing with his brothers in his younger years to attending car shows, swap meets, and auctions, Clayton could remember every car he ever owned. He loved the history, craftsmanship, and stories behind them.

He found equal joy in the outdoors, especially fishing and camping with family and friends. After retiring to Florida, he spent many happy days on the water doing what he loved most.

But above all, Clayton loved his family and his faith. His wisdom, kindness, generosity, humor, and gentle spirit left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Clayton passed away on September 12, 2026, just two days after celebrating his 100th birthday. While his passing leaves a deep emptiness, his life leaves behind an even greater gift: a family shaped by his example and a lifetime of memories that will never fade.
