Charles Hale Stewart of McCordsville, IN, passed away on Sunday, June 12, at the residence of his daughter, Tina Carson, in Orlando, FL.
He was born in Burkesville, KY (Judio Creek) on March 1, 1933, the only child of Lewis G. Stewart and Ada Dane (Murphy) Stewart.
Charlie was a life-long country music songwriter and performer, known for his quick wit. A proud member of the R.O.P.E. musicians guild, he had written thousands of songs, many of which were recorded by himself and other artists over the decades. Some of his earliest music earned him listing on the online "Rockabilly Hall of Fame." Through the internet, his music will continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Opal Hannah Stewart. He is survived by his daughters Dana Charlene (Dave) Neufer, Tina (Jack) Carson, and step-sons, Walter (Judy) Dildine and Herbert (Kathy) Dildine, eleven grandchildren; Katie, John, Matt, Erin, Jordan, David, Jeff, Jessica, Elliott, Jake and Cole; and one great-grandson, Donnie.
Charlie retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis, and proudly served in the U.S. Army.
