Charles "Charlie" Frances Grant, 85, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on August 26, 2026.
Charlie was born on May 17, 1941, to Harold and Betty Grant. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and later earned a degree in Business from Ball State University. Charlie spent most of his professional career in credit analysis, working for several companies before retiring from Bridgestone Firestone Industrial Products, where he dedicated 25 years of service.
Charlie was a quiet, gentle man who cared deeply for his family and friends. He had a lifelong curiosity and enjoyed pursuing a wide variety of interests and hobbies. One of his greatest passions was automobiles. He loved everything about cards, from driving and tinkering under the hood to researching, buying, and selling vehicles.
Skiing was another passion that brought Charlie great joy. As a longtime member of the Indianapolis Ski Club, he enjoyed many memorable trips and found particular peace in the beauty of the mountains and the stillness of freshly fallen snow. Charlie was also a member of the Indianapolis Sailing Club, where he sailed in the Y-Flyer class. While he often joked that he was not the club's most skilled sailor, he was certainly among those who enjoyed it the most. Time spent on the water brought him great happiness and led to many lifelong friendships.
In retirement, Charlie found pleasure in life's simple joys. He enjoyed discovering new lunch spots, visiting local breweries, and learning the craft of brewing his own small batches of beer. Many evenings were spent at home with his beloved wife, Andrea, enjoying their nightly viewing of Jeopardy and episodes of NCIS.
Charlies is survived by his loving wife, Andrea Caperell-Grant; his son, Gordon Scott Grant; his stepdaughters, Clare (Steve) Bowers and Caroline (Joe) Mason; and grandchildren, Rory, Kieran, Madeline, and Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Betty Grant, and his sisters, Jean Ayer and Karen O'Hara.
A Celebration of Life will be announced and shared with family and friends in the coming weeks.
