Charles Thomas Goddard

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Thomas Goddard, 99, on September 1, 2026. Charles was born on August 20, 1927 to parents Floyd and Mammie Goddard in Greencastle, Indiana.

Charles’ early years were spent in southern Indiana, until he took up arms at age 24 to dutifully serve his country in the United States Army. Charles served from 1951 to 1953. His dedicated nature also extended to the love of his life, Mrs. Vera Goddard, with whom he shared 65 years in marriage.

Charles worked as an accountant at Farm Bureau Co-Op for many years until retirement. Upon retirement, he and his wife owned an arts and crafts business and did craft shows.

Charles also enjoyed going to Indianapolis Indians and Indiana Fever games with his son, Robert. He was a big fan of the Pacers, Colts, Fever and the Cincinnati Reds. And when he couldn’t catch the game in person, he’d be sure to tune in on the television.

Charles was a regular at his local Cracker Barrel, where the staff knew him by name.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Vera and he is survived by his son, Robert Goddard.

Charles’ legacy is one of hard work and American values. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
