Charles "Chuck" Edward Gebuhr

April 23, 1948 — December 2, 2024

Indianapolis

Charles Edward Gebuhr, aged 76, passed away on December 2, 2024. A beloved father, husband, and friend, he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Chuck was born on April 23, 1948, in Des Moines, IA to John and Agnes Gebuhr, later moving to Indianapolis, IN where he would finish his senior year at North Central High School. He went on to attend Dana College and Indiana University becoming interested in politics. In pursuit of this interest, he became the state director for President Ronald Reagan’s campaign in Indiana in 1980. Chuck would go on to direct or be intimately involved in numerous state and local campaigns throughout his career. A jack of all trades, he occupied positions in the City County Council, transportation licensing, managed a Marion County traffic court, and was a US Bankruptcy Trustee.

Above all, Chuck was a devoted father, grandfather, husband, and mentor. He cherished time spent with his sons, taking them on wonderful trips, serving as Cubmaster in their scout pack, coaching football, and leading Sunday School at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church. As a grandfather, he spoiled his three grandchildren well and often. In August of 2024, Chuck achieved his final bucket list goal by visiting his 50th state, Alaska, with his entire family alongside him.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Marsha, his children, Jacob, and Andrew (Jessica), his three grandchildren, Edward, Vivian and Josephine, his brother John, sister Ann, and brothers-in-law Jeffrey Dimmich (Kathy) and Gregory Dimmich (Stephanie).

A visitation will take place from 10am-11am on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church - 5233 E 79th St, Indianapolis, IN 46250, with a funeral service at 11am.

Following the conclusion of the service, family and friends will be dismissed to meet at the cemetery for his graveside service. There will be a processional line-up for his graveside service around 12:30p, inside the cemetery gates at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens – 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250, where Chuck will be laid to rest.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Villa Licci at P. O. Box 80128, Indianapolis, IN 46280. This will be a residential facility and the first of its kind in the country for TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) survivors.
