Charles Edward Litterer, 88 of Indianapolis passed away on August 22, 2022.
He was born at home in Louisville, KY to Oscar and Frieda (Eibisch) Litterer on February 25, 1934.
He attended Concordia High School and Junior College in Ft. Wayne, IN and received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary in St Louis, MO. Charles served churches in Georgia, New York, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee during his years as a pastor. After retirement, he worked for Laborers for Christ, building churches and schools. He loved family, travel, exercise, handyman projects, including auto repair, and serving Christ. He was a gentle man and a gentleman.
Charles is survived by his wife Nancy Litterer; his children, Catherine Litterer and Thomas (Tracy) Litterer; their mother, Marilyn Wilson Hawkins; and grandchildren, Emily and Jacob Litterer; nieces and nephew, as well as step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James E Litterer; and his second wife, Glyna Litterer.
A service of praise and thanksgiving in celebration of his life will be held Saturday, September 24 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 8115 Oaklandon Road, Indianapolis. Visitation will be at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00.
Gifts in remembrance may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or to Lutheran Child and Family Services-The Sharing Place Food Pantry.
