Charles Edward “Ed” Steward, 88, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on December 15, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis on August 22, 1933 to the late Edward Alfred and Edna Morine (Swarens) Steward. Ed graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School where he met and later married the love of his life, Barbara. After graduating from Purdue University, he began his 35-year career at Indiana Bell with one leave of absence to honorably serve his country as an Ordinance Officer for the United States Army, stationed for two years in Germany. Upon their return to Indianapolis, he returned to Indiana Bell, where he worked in the telecommunications field as an Electrical Engineer. He was a devoted husband and father, and he loved spending time with his grandsons. He also enjoyed being an active member of his church. Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, children, Laura Ann Schmidt and Kenneth Edward Steward, grandchildren, Zachary Steward and Nicholas Karl and son-in-law, Kevin Michael Schmidt. Visitation will be held from 12-1PM with funeral service to begin at 1PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229.
