Charles E. Williams, 93, Zionsville, IN, and formerly of Rome, NY, passed away November 13, 2017. He was born on July 14, 1924 in Mt. Vernon, OH, the son of Otho and Myrtle (Booker) Williams. Charles served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1947, as a Machinist Mate Third Class, stationed in both Great Lakes, IL and Whidbey Island, WA. He also was a machinist for the U.S. Air Force. Upon returning from military service, Charles completed his college degree at State University of New York at Oswego. He received his teaching license and became a high school math and industrial arts teacher in 1968. While teaching high schools, Charles became a locksmith. He retired from teaching in 1988. Charles was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rome, NY where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #325 in Rome, NY.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Reba Williams, Pearl Carter, Jayne Prince, and his brother, Robert Williams. Forever cherishing his precious memory are his wife, Margaret A. Williams; his children, Delores Williams and Robert Williams (Linda); his grandchildren, Robert Williams, Jr. and Corey Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 19 at 3 PM at Flanner Buchanan- Zionsville, 105 W. Pine Street, Zionsville, IN, with visitation from 2-3 PM. Memorial gifts may be made to the Indiana Parkinson Foundation, 9669 East 146th St., Suite 180, Noblesville, IN 46060 or the First United Methodist Church Choir, 400 N. George Street, Rome, NY 13440.
