Charles Kenneth "Bud" Bowers , Jr.

Charles Kenneth “Bud” Bowers, Jr., age 84 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on June 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 14, 1939, to the late Charles K. and Dorothy M. (Hitchcock) Bowers, Sr. Bud, as he was affectionately known, was a Firefighter for the Indianapolis International Airport prior to retiring. Prior to working as a Firefighter, he worked at the Catholic Cemetery, and Citizens Gas. Bud served his community with the Decatur Township Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years faithfully. He was a member of the Prospect Masonic Lodge #714 F&AM, and a former member of the Decatur Central Lions Club. Bud enjoyed being a “snowbird”, spending his winters at his place in Florida. He enjoyed traveling, but he especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was dearly loved and will be missed. Bud is survived by his loving children, Pam (Jeff) Schiele, Becky (Tim) Dunigan, Roxane (Brian) Acup, 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and his sister, Joan Parsley. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sharon Ann (Bryant) Bowers who he married on September 12, 1960, his son, Chuck Bowers, his granddaughter, Chelsea Bowers, his sister, Judy Cole and his brother, Bob Bowers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township and Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 1:00pm-2:00pm. Bud’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, 2:00pm at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, Indiana. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Hospice – Prayer Shawl Ministry in his memory.
