Beech Grove

Charlene Louise (Wright) Elliott, of Beech Grove, passed away on May 24, 2024. She was born in Muncie, Indiana on June 8, 1944, to her parents, Charles, and Margaret Wright. Charlene was a graduate of Shortridge High School. She then went on to Ivy Tech, studying in various electrical trades. Charlene was a dedicated 20-year employee for Western Electric and then went to work for Standard Change Maker for an additional 15 years. Charlene loved her family, and especially the times she spent with her sisters. They loved to map out the next garage sale together and had many wonderful adventures full of laughter. Charlene was known in multiple states for her famous bread—specifically her banana nut bread. Charlene also had a knack for all things craft. Her artistic eye and design were impeccable. She sewed from the time she was a little girl. You may even remember her sewing the outfits for her collection of dolls or working on a beautiful doll house. However, if you knew Charlene, then you know how truly gifted and special her passion for quilting was. She had quilted an estimated 1,000 or so masterpieces, specifically designed for her friends and family. Each quilt was carefully designed, thought out, and customized based on its recipient. The details in each quilt were truly unique and were the epitome of “made with love.” Her quilts were a reflection of her love and to this day, will be a symbol of her legacy.

Charlene was truly one of a kind. Her smile lit up any room that she was in, and her vibrant personality could turn anyone’s day around. Charlene’s laugh and joyous nature were certainly contagious. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Charlene was proud of all her family but took extreme pride in her grandchildren’s accomplishments. She never missed an opportunity to share their successes with them. Charlene will be missed terribly by all the lives she has touched—although her memory will surely never be forgotten.

Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Maragret Wright; her beloved husband of 51 years, Wayne Elliott Sr.; her son, Wayne Elliott Jr.; and her sisters, Hester Deloach and Margaret Groce.

She is survived by her children, Charles (Tammy) Honeycutt and Phil (Carol) Honeycutt; her grandchildren, Corey Honeycutt, Cody (Elizabeth) Honeycutt, Chad (Kendra) Honeycutt, Nick Honeycutt, and Alex Honeycutt; and her great-grandchildren, Caden, Cali, Carson, Stetson, Easton, Keaton, and Brooklyn.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 12-1PM at Flanner Buchanan Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 1PM. Charlene will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery next to her late husband and son.
