Celesta "Jane" Rose McPhillips Shireman
69, of Indianapolis passed away September 21, 2013. Jane was born February 12, 1944 to the late Owen B. and Mary M. Rice McPhillips. She worked several jobs, including HP Wasson Dept. Store, W.T. Grant, Foster & Messick Insurance Co., Indiana Convention Center-Catering Service, Central Soya (Bunge) Co., and Cameron Springs Water Bottling Co. Her favorite job was volunteering for her parish, St. Ann Catholic Church, where she helped on many committees and ministries, in particular helping in the liturgy services for funerals, with the funeral dinners, and with all the fund raisers. Jane was especially happy and honored that she was able to be a part of the Building-Ad-Hoc Committee that helped build the current church. All of her friendships through the years were dear to her, and she always said, "They teach and help me a lot and offer a lot of love."
She is survived by her loving husband David V. Shireman, children, Theresa Marie (Mick) Hammersley, David Joseph (Gwen) Shireman, grandchildren, Jamie Lyn Shireman(Jacob) Boggs, Amber Marie Shireman, great grandchildren, Anthony Jacob(AJ) Boggs, Jayda Nakata- Marie Boggs, Hunter David Miller, sisters, Audrey McPhillips-Smith, Lynn Ellen McPhillips. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Ann McPhillips Ludwick.
Her final request was for everyone to have a BIG party and celebrate the life of "Hurricane Jane." Mass of "Celebration of Life "will be celebrated on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 6:30 P.M. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 6350 S. Mooresville Road, Indianapolis, IN with visitation there from 12- 6 P. M. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Ann Catholic Church Building Fund. Burial will be at a future date in the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church Cemetery in New Middletown, Indiana.
