Cecilia Beatrice Larson

Cecilia (Ceil) B. Larson was born in Chicago, Illinois Feb 29, 1928 and died January 14, 2024.

Ceil graduated from Roosevelt High School in Chicago and went to work for Illinois Bell. A homemaker when the children were young; when the children were older, she went back to work at the Greater Indianapolis YMCA Office. Ceil was an active member of First Congregational Church serving on various committees and boards. She was also active with the Altenheim Community Auxiliary Board and in both the United Church Women (UCC) and Church Women United.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, needlework, puzzles, card and board games. She loved social events, both at church and at home. At church she was on committees, planned receptions and dinners, sang in the choir, and was part of the Bridge Club. She planned parties for graduations, weddings, birthdays and “just because” with family and friends. After retiring, she played golf with a ladies group and family; traveled extensively with Don and her sisters Elsie and Sylvia; and loved spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Don, and survived by their four daughters: Nancy (Steve) Sachs, Sally Coombs, Judith (Ron) Hamm, Susan Larson; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren: Michelle (Ben) Neyer, Alex and Zach; Jessica (Zach) Fordice, Zion; Meghann (Reese) Coverdale, Emery; Roxanne (Vance) Vaden, Miles and Valerie; Melissa (Matt) Thomas; Jonathan Hamm; and Rebecca Hamm-Sertic.

She is also survived by her sister, Sylvia Gurney, and nieces and nephews: Mary Gurney, Sean Gurney, Kevin Gurney (Stephanie), Kenzie; Ken Schroeder (Linda) - Christopher and Gregory (Melissa) - Juliana.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at First Congregational Church, 7171 N. Pennsylvania.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church.
