Born January8, 1925 to William Henry and Elizabeth Casey Evans in Washington County, Salem,IN. He was the 10th of 10 children of whom, along with their parents,proceed in him in death.

His earlyschooling was at Walnut Grove School in Kossuth, IN and Salem High School.Following high school, he started at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN,then joined a U.S. Naval program at Purdue.

Cecil servedin the U.S. Naval Amphibian Forces aboard the USS LSM 112 in the PacificTheatre as a LTJG during WWII, having graduated from Midshipman School atColumbia University. His active duty aboard the LSM 112 was concluded with theship’s decommissioning and ownership transferred to China’s National Forcesunder Chiang Kai-Shek in Shanghai China, 1946. Following the War, Cecilreturned to studies at Purdue University and employment in the constructionindustry.

In 1949,Mary Lou Douglass of Indianapolis and Cecil were married. To this union threechildren were born and subsequently seven grandchildren. Children, mates, andgrandchildren are as follows: Gordon and Sheila Evans of Oxon Hill, MD,daughter Lindsey; Karen (Evans) and Chuck Horn of Carmel, IN , childrenWhitney, Evan, and Sarah Elizabeth; Sandy Evans (deceased) and widower DanLandwerlen of Indianapolis, IN, children Emma, Jacob, and Zane.

Cecil was agraduate of Purdue with a BS in Civil Engineering and a member of Kappa DeltaRho social fraternity. He was a member and elder at Orchard Park PresbyterianChurch and an Associate Member of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, Punta Gorda,FL, his winter home for many years. He was also a long time member of theCarmel, IN Rotary Club, Woodland Country Club, a retired member of ProfessionalEngineers of Indiana, and a member of American Society of Civil Engineers,American Water Works Association, and Indiana Constructers Incorporated. Heformed an Engineering-Construction Co. in 1960 in Westfield, IN known as EvansConstruction Company, operating principally in the state of Indiana. Thisbusiness was closed in 1989 with the retirement of Cecil Evans. During thisperiod, many water supply plants, waste treatment facilities, and industrialproduction facilities were built.

Cecilovercame stage four prostate cancer in 1985 and continued his long and fruitfullife until passing ten days prior to his 91st birthday. Cecil lovedand generously provided for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will begreatly missed.

A memorialservice will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Orchard ParkPresbyterian Church. Friends are invitedto call from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 8 and Saturday, January 9from 10:30 am until the time of the service at Orchard Park PresbyterianChurch.
