Catheryn Birdsong

Catheryn (Martin) Birdsong, age 75 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, June 5, 2024 at her home with her loving husband William Birdsong at her side.

Catheryn was born on November 23, 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama, a daughter of Willie and Emma (Glenn) Martin. Her parents precede her in death.

She married William Birdsong on May 27, 1983 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years: William Birdsong of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Together William and Catheryn have three children: Portia (husband Vincent) Mason of Indianapolis, Indiana, LaJuan Floyd of Indianapolis, Indiana and William (wife Tyniqua) Birdsong, Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Eight grandchildren: Vashni Perry, Robert Jordan Jr., Miles Jordan, Tori Mason, Shawnicee Brown, Shawn Brown Jr., Brailynn Birdsong, Brielle Birdsong and William Birdsong III.

Many great grandchildren: 15

Siblings: Willie (wife Cressie) Martin Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama and Carolyn Martin of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Many nieces, nephews, other family members and relatives survive all of whom loved Catheryn dearly.

She is preceded in death by her siblings: Cora Ford, Norma McClain, Barbara Williams, John Wesley Martin.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East Funeral Center, located at 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229.

Her funeral will begin at 1:00 PM with Elder Tommy Stone officiating.

Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
