Catherine Williams

April 10, 1923 — May 28, 2013

Catherine Arlene Curtis Williams Our beautiful and beloved mother, passed away May 28, 2013, at American Village. She was born in Lewisville, Indiana on April 10, 1923, to Garrett Hobart Curtis and Alma Irene Miley. She was cherished by her family and all who knew her. Mom grew up in her much-loved Madison, Indiana, where she graduated from Madison High School. She met the love of her life at nearby Hanover College, a handsome young football player named Bruce Williams. They married and had five children whose hearts are broken with her loss: Irene Brunet, Tampa FL; Mary Catherine (Bob) Kovatch, Indianapolis, IN; Sally Bruce (Daryl) Ackley, Eagle Point, OR; David Michael (Sonia) Williams, Bourbon, IN; Robert Christopher Williams, Shady Cover, OR; She is survived by five grandchildren, Maya Ackley, Sam (Becky) Ackley, Michael Kovatch, Mackenzie Williams and Madeline Williams; one great grandson, Oliver Ackley; two step-grandchildren, Joseph L. Brunet and Christine Brunet, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and four sisters Evelyn Handlon, Mary Daunhauer, Lucille DeMint, and Elizabeth Stephens, one brother Donald Curtis, and her husband of 58 years, preceded her in death. Mom was a precious gift to her family, a play-by-ear pianist, a "Martha Stewart" before there was one, a green-thumb gardener, especially with roses, an avid reader, and a Notre Dame football fan. Her home was warm and inviting, a source of happy memories for all who shared her life. There is a star in the galaxy named for Mom, "Blue-Eyed Catherine," a gift as enduring as our love for her. We will miss her forever. The family wishes to acknowledge with deep gratitude the compassionate care our mother received at American Village, especially from the staff of the Moving Forward unit. Graveside services in Madison will be private. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your local Humane Society, neighborhood library, or the Wounded Warriors Project would be a kind gesture to honor her sweet memory. Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple is handling arrangements. You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story. Sincerely, -Your friends at Flanner and Buchanan
