Catherine M. Szakel

Catherine Mae (Radez) Szakel 93 of Plainfield, Indiana passed away February 16, 2026. She was married to Louis M. Szakel for 58 years until his passing in 2010. Catherine had seven children, two of whom preceded her in death: Michael and Anthony. Catherine was a devoted wife, mother, and a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She is survived by her sister, Mary Sweeeney, her brother, Bob Radez, her children, Barbara Daugherty, Theresa Farrell, Christine Kelly, Mary Bruce, David Szakel, her 14 grandchildren, her 17 great grandchildren, and her one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, 11:00am-12:00pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1401 S. Mickley Avenue Indianapolis, Indiana with the Mass of Christian Burial immediately following there at 12:00pm. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.
