Cary A. Woodward, 79, of Westfield, IN passed away on March 15, 2019. Beloved son, brother, father and grandfather, Cary, one of twin boys was born on February 17, 1940 to parents, Earl and Margaret “Peggy” Woodward. He attended Mars High School and attended Clarion State College before enlisting into the Navy. Cary, an Honor Man, served his country honorably. During his career, Cary worked for the Hamilton County Weights and Measures Department, retiring in 2017 as Director.
Cary had a passion for the Lord and a servant’s heart. He was an involved member of the former Christ Community Church in Noblesville, Hinkle Creek Friends and Christ Community Church of Lamong. He was a Gideon and volunteered his time with various jail ministries. He was involved with the ALPHA Program, the Hamilton County Community Corrections Trustee Program, where he mentored inmates preparing to re-enter society; he volunteered with the Junior Law Enforcement Chaplaincy youth camp; and did missions work in Jamaica and Mexico. He also volunteered as a Poll Inspector with the election board.
Cary is survived by his wife, Suzanne M. (Pettyjohn) Woodward; brother, Douglas R. Woodward; sister, Barbara (Woodward) Buckbee; children, Julie Woodward, Sharon (Woodward) Jacobson and Michael C. Woodward; and grandson, David Jacobson.
He was preceded in death by: father, Earl R. Woodward; mother, Margaret Woodward; brother, Earl R. Woodward Jr. and daughter, Amy (Woodward) Barnes.
Memorial services will be held at 3pm on Saturday March 23rd, 2019 at Eagle Creek Friends Church, 18103 Eagletown Rd, Westfield, IN 46074. Burial will be private in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
