Carrie Juanita Brown Passed away peacefully on September 22, 2015, surrounded lovingly by her children. Juanita was born in Carlisle, Indiana to Charles and Sena Flynn. She grew up in Indianapolis, graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and attended nursing school at Marion County General Hospital. She loved children and worked as a nurse at Riley Children's Hospital for many years and then as Admissions Officer at Wishard. She was married to Gordon Brown in 1947 and they shared their lives together for fifty-nine years. They were both very active members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Juanita was an avid reader, writer, prolific poet, quilter and licensed pilot. She published several books of poetry, pondering life's many mysteries. Amelia Earhart and Emily Dickenson were two of her greatest inspirations. She was a devoted wife and mother, unassuming and never in the spotlight, but always making sure everyone was taken care of. She is survived by four daughters: Susi Megathlin, Mary Keith, Linda Brown and Judy Gates, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple on October 5, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. A private burial will follow at a later date.
