Carolyn A Sullivan, 87, a faithful servant, wife, mother and friend to all she met, passed away on May 12, 2024.
Carolyn was born in April 1937 to the late Homer & Ann Dilday in Tuckerman, Arkansas. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Arkansas where she met her first husband, William Roy Featherston. They were married in September 1957. After a brief time teaching in Wisconsin, Carolyn devoted her life to raising three children. Carolyn & Roy moved to West Lafayette for Roy’s career at Purdue University in the summer of 1962. While raising her family Carolyn also gave her time to many activities and organizations, including being a youth leader at First United Methodist Church, school volunteer, athletic booster officer, Girl Scout leader, Group Homes for Children and Lafayette Urban Ministry. After Roy’s death in 1980, she accepted a position at Westminister Village as the Director of Special Services.
In 1997, Carolyn married her second husband, Gene Sullivan. They lived in Crown Point, Indiana until retiring to Hilton Head Island. She was a devoted caregiver for her ailing parents, two aunts and husband Gene. A move to Hoosier Village in 2014 led to many new friends and memories that she cherished. She also enjoyed being back in the mid-west near her children and grandchildren.
Carolyn will be remembered for her infectious smile, positive spirit, and willingness to help others. She was a great cook, hostess and organizer. Above all she was an amazing mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend.
Carolyn is survived by son Stuart (Kathy) Featherston, daughter Lisa (Scot) Evans, daughter Sandra (Bill) Asbury, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by step daughter Lynn (Pete) Sullivan, 2 step-grandchildren, her brother Robert Dilday, and 10 nieces & nephews.
