Indianapolis, Indiana – Carolyn J. Reynolds, 91, went home to Christ on March 24, 2026. A caring woman who spent her life in devotion to others, she will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
Carolyn was born on June 2, 1934, in Seymour, Indiana, to parents Sylvester Pease & Alma (Ashby) Haugh. She worked her entire life in Indiana Healthcare as a receptionist and administrator for Riley Children’s Hospital and Community East, retiring in 1989. Even after retiring, she continued to volunteer for both Community Hospital Indianapolis and Old Bethel United Methodist Church.
Carolyn enjoyed spending her free time reading – mystery and especially Agatha Christie were her favorites, and knitting. She could crochet just about anything, from blankets to scarves and even beanie hats that she would share with the homeless through her volunteer programs.
She is preceded in death by her husband Walter Reynolds and sister Alberta Pease.
She is survived by her children Lucinda Thompson (Charlie Kirk), Mark Reynolds (Michael Montgomery), Steven Hankins (Lana), Michael Hankins, and Gary Hankins (Estella); grandchildren Jody Maiden, Kyle Hankins (Erin), Elizabeth Bowen (Robert), Tony Hankins (Leah), Justin Hankins (Alison), Megan Monroe, Jeremy Hankins, Corina Hankins, Vanessa Hankins, and Cassandra Hankins; as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
Carolyn’s family wanted to share the following:
Carolyn went home to be with the Lord today. Our hearts are heavy and we will miss her dearly. She was always there for us unconditionally. She was the rock of our family.
She guided each of us through life, always trying to keep us close to God and grounded in faith. She was sassy, sweet, opinionated, and wise all at the same time, and that combination made her truly unforgettable.
She told us that she would be the guide in our lives and looking back now, we know she was absolutely right. She guided and loved us (and told us almost everyday) and we will miss her miserably.
We are so grateful for her love, her strength, and the faith she poured into all of us. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229) from 10 am to 2 pm with funeral services following at 2 pm. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery following services.
