Carolyn Marie Franklin, age 75 of Indianapolis, Indiana was called home to be with the Lord at the throne on Sunday evening of October 12, 2025.

Carolyn was born on April 16, 1950, in Brownsville, TN, daughter of Willie and Bernice (Reed) Evans. Carolyn graduated from Carver High School in Brownville, Tennessee. Carolyn professed her love for Christ at a young age and joined Woodland Baptist Church in Brownville, TN and later in life she joined Mount Carmel Baptist Church of Indianapolis, IN. Carolyn worked for over 20 years at Ertle Manufacturer before retiring in 1997, after retiring Carolyn watched her grandchildren alone with other family and friends’ children.

On February 2, 2009, she was united in holy matrimony to Virgil Franklin.

Carolyn loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. Banana nut bread was her specialty. Carolyn also loved to shop on QVC. Carolyn loved to read and would read her bible at night before bed.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory three children: daughters Tracey L Evans of Indianapolis, IN and Latonya Flowers of Las Vegas, NV and son Byron Lewis of North Carolina. Carolyn is also survived by sisters: Thelma Light of Dyersburg, TN, Rosa Burrus (Larry) of Jackson, TN, Beverly Evans of Jackson, TN, Connie Allen (John) of Brownville TN, Glenda Flagg of Jackson TN; brothers: Edgar Evans of Brownville, TN, Dudley Evans (Ingrid) of Junction City, KS and Cecil Evans (Angella) of Ripley, TN. Sister-in-law Maxie Mitchell (Willie) of Indianapolis, IN.

Six Grandchildren: Janelle Flowers, Jarelle Flowers, Stacia Goliday, Shawnese Goliday and Freddie Robinson Jr.

Seven great grandchildren: Jakira Parrish, Samiya Leonard, Jayceon McChristian, Prophet Seay, Pharron Seay, Ephesians Leonard and Kross Goliday.

She raised three special cousins: Sharon Hess, Michael Hess and Kim Hess.

Two very special friends: Dortha Douglas Indianapolis, Annie Marie Tyus of Brownville, TN.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Virgil on January 19, 2024. She was also preceded in death by her parents Willie and Bernice Evans of Brownville TN and two sisters Angella Evans and Darlene Crew.

She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park Funeral Center, located at 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222.

Carolyn's Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM.  Pastor Clyde McFadden will officiate.

Entombment will follow at Floral Park Cemetery where Carolyn will be laid to rest with her husband Virgil Franklin.

Repass will follow also at Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park Funeral Center.
