Carolla Jeanne Carvey, of Indianapolis, age 89, died peacefully in her sleep on November 20, 2013. Carolla was born December 26, 1923 in Evansville, Indiana. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, John Crouder Carvey and her parents, Carolla and George Flentke.
Carolla graduated from Bosse High School, Evansville, Indiana . She attended Evansville College where she was crowned their Homecoming Queen in October, 1943. She later transferred to Indiana University School of Business, Bloomington, Indiana where she graduated with high honors in January, 1946 with a degree in accounting. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.
Carolla was a member of Northwood Christian Church since 1959 and was active in their women's circle for many years. She also volunteered at Sunnyside Guild and Wishard Hospital. She and her husband, John, were avid Indiana University sports fans and attended football and basketball games for over 30 years.
Carolla's life revolved around her three loving children, Vicki (Bill) Morton, Syracuse, Indiana; John David (Catherine) Carvey, Indianapolis, Indiana; and Cynthia (Eric) Griffin, Franklin Tennessee, and her six loving grandchildren, Virginia (Josh) Chapman, Fairfax, Virginia; Kathleen Morton, Denver, Colorado; Andrew Morton, Syracuse, Indiana; Ashley, Angela and Christopher Griffin, Franklin, Tennessee. Her first great grandchild, Genevieve Chapman was born in 2012. She is also survived by a loving brother, Robert Flentke, Vancouver, Washington.
A memorial service will be held at Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple, Indianapolis, Indiana at 11:30 on Saturday, November 30. Visitation with the family will precede the service at 10:30. Burial will follow the service at 4:00 at Plainview Cemetery, Macy, Indiana.
